How does one truly read a sacred text? How can a student without access to teachers verify their understanding? What distinguishes surface reading from deep comprehension?

In the year 1691, Shaykh Ahmad ibn Lutfullah sat before the Kaaba and penned answers to these perennial questions. A polymath who served as Chief Astronomer to Sultan Mehmed IV, the author drew upon decades of scholarship across multiple disciplines to produce this systematic guide to the art of reading.

The Outpouring of the Sacred Precinct (Fayd al-Haram) is an important work within the Islamic intellectual tradition. While numerous classical works address the spiritual and ethical dimensions of seeking knowledge, few systematically analyse the cognitive processes involved in deep reading. The author breaks down the act of study into its constituent elements: understanding individual words, grasping grammatical structures, recognising rhetorical devices, identifying logical arguments, and synthesising complex meanings into coherent understanding.

Written for the student of knowledge, one who has grasped introductory concepts but has not yet achieved scholarly mastery, this work provides practical tools for those who find themselves between elementary instruction and advanced scholarship. The author offers precise guidance on how to know when true understanding has been achieved, how to distinguish superficial comprehension from genuine insight, and how to extract meanings from texts without direct teacher supervision.

This second edition has been completely revised with improved translation, standardised transliteration, and enhanced Arabic.

The need for this work has never been greater. In an age of abundant information and fractured attention, Shaykh Ahmad's systematic approach offers a methodology for reclaiming depth in reading and authenticity in learning.

Selections from The Muhammadan Covenants: Sincerity in Knowledge and Action presents a curated selection from the larger work of Imam ʿAbd al-Wahāb al-Shaʿrānī, one of the foremost scholars of the tenth Islamic century. In these pages, he gathers covenants that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took from his community, with a focus on sincerity, correct intention, and faithful practice. The selections call the reader to purify motive, align action with the Sacred Law, and measure learning by its fruits.

The book opens with the covenant to make one’s worship for Allah alone, to cleanse the heart of display and pride, and to seek reward as a gift from the Divine rather than a wage owed. It then lays out practical counsels for seekers and teachers alike. Readers are encouraged by the author to act upon the Sunnah in word, deed, and belief, and to refrain when evidence is unclear. There are reminders to attend the gatherings of hadith recitals, keep the company of scholars, honor those who carry knowledge, and transmit what benefits without boasting or rivalry. The warnings are equally clear. Do not answer questions without sincerity. Do not be careless in narrating reports. Do not be deluded by memorization that lacks practice. Do not claim knowledge except for a purpose allowed by the Sacred Law.

Throughout, the tone is direct and constructive. The Imam ties spiritual states to concrete obligations, and he sets a standard that is high yet attainable. The reader comes away with a framework for study, teaching, and worship that safeguards intention and the path.

This edition offers a careful selection on sincerity and practice, making the core themes accessible to readers who seek guidance that is both devotional and disciplined. It is a handbook for anyone who wishes to align knowledge with action and draw nearer to Allah through what He has legislated.

The Blessed Month of Sha'ban
Print Books

Between the sacred month of Rajab and the blessed month of Ramadan lies a treasure often overlooked by the modern Muslim community. The month of Shaʿban holds profound spiritual opportunities that the Prophet ﷺ himself cherished above all other months for voluntary fasting and worship.

In this masterful treatise, the renowned Muhaddith of Makkah, Sayyid Muḥammad ibn ʿAlawī al-Mālikī, unveils the hidden treasures of this blessed month. Drawing from hadith sources and the wisdom of the righteous predecessors, he illuminates why the Prophet ﷺ called Shaʿban "my month" and why he fasted more during it than any other time except Ramadan.

This comprehensive work explores the momentous events that occurred in Shaʿban, including the changing of the Qiblah from Jerusalem to Makkah and the revelation of the verse commanding believers to send salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ. The author guides readers through the spiritual practices most beloved during this month, from increased fasting to the recitation of Qurʾan, from seeking forgiveness to sending abundant blessings upon the Messenger ﷺ.

Special attention is given to the Night of the Middle of Shaʿban (also known as Shab-e-Barāt and Laylah al-Barāʾah), when divine mercy descends, sins are forgiven, and sustenance is decreed. The author carefully examines the authentic narrations regarding this blessed night while addressing common misconceptions and innovations.

In this illuminating work, readers will discover:

  1. Why the Prophet ﷺ said deeds are raised to Allah during Shaʿban
  2. The authentic practices for the sacred Middle Night and which innovations to avoid
  3. Powerful supplications transmitted from the righteous predecessors
  4. Which sins prevent divine forgiveness on this blessed night
  5. How to properly prepare the heart for Ramadan's arrival

The Maghazi of Sayyiduna Muhammad ﷺ (Gold Premium)
Books

This is the Gold-Illuminated Hardback Premium Edition of the Maghazi – The earliest available work of Sīrah in existence that was previously lost for nearly 500 years.

This text is the first English translation of The Maghāzī of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ by the eminent Tabi'i scholar Musa ibn 'Uqbah, the earliest biography of the Messenger of Allah currently known to exist.

Until recently, no copies of The Maghāzī of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ had been seen for over 400 years, and most scholars believed the text to be lost forever. Thus the good fortune of its reappearance cannot be overstated. The discovery of its manuscripts in the archives of the National Library of Tunisia by Dr. Muhammad Tabarani is a significant event, the like of which the Ummah may not see again for many years, if ever. Ninety-one folios were found, which together contain approximately three-quarters of the original text. We hope that the remaining parts may be found soon.

Renowned in his own time as a muhaddith and historian, Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah ranks as one of the first individuals to compile reports specifically related to the sīrah, the biography of the Prophet Muhammad . More significant, however, is the fact that his Maghāzī (Expeditions) was acclaimed by his contemporaries and by scholars of later generations, as the most authentic work of its genre. Those who praised him and affirmed his trustworthiness include Imam Malik, Imam al-Shafi'i, and Imam ibn Hanbal:

“I recommend the Maghazi of the pious man Musa ibn ‘Uqbah because it is the most accurate of Maghazi works.”
— Imam Malik ibn Anas

"There is none from the Maghazi genre that is more authentic than his book despite its shortness, and it is void of what is mostly mentioned in books other than his."
— Imam Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi’i

“Hold tight to (Kitab) al-Maghazi by Ibn 'Uqbah because he is absolutely trustworthy.”

— Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

“His trustworthiness is confirmed. And he narrated many ḥadīths.”
— Imām al-Dhahabī

“[The scholars] agreed upon his trustworthiness. Both al-Bukhārī and Muslim narrated his ḥadīths.” “His trustworthiness is confirmed. He was one of the junior Tabi‘īn.”
— Imām al-Nawawī

“He was a trustworthy jurist and authority in (the field of) Maghāzī.”
— Imām Ibn Ḥajar al-‘Asqalānī

Following its completion, The Maghāzī of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ served as an authoritative source for many later works on the life of Allah's Messenger ﷺ.

A sub-genre within the field of Prophetic studies, the maghāzī literature covers the battles and military expeditions of the Prophetic era, and by extension, the biography of the Prophet ﷺ as well. The maghāzī literature is thus both historical and religious in its scope. What sets The Maghāzī of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ apart, even among the works of maghāzī and sīrah, is the fact that its author was a muhaddith first and foremost, and as such, adhered to strict requirements for documentation of both narrators and narrations in his works. The result is that his Maghāzī is a work of history that is documented almost to the same standards as a work of hadith.

IGP's hardback edition of the The Maghāzī of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ includes:

  • Original Arabic and English translation of the manuscript text
  • Introduction and history of the work
  • Foreword with detailed discussion of the science of sīrah
  • Footnotes to provide context and explanation, as well as the sources of the dozens of Qur'anic verses woven into the text

al-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyya
Book

The Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya of Imam al-Tirmidhi presents us detailed descriptions of the moral, physical and spiritual qualities of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The perfections that Allah bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encompass every aspect of his blessed being: his outward physical form, his senses, his internal form and his inner beauty. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the most perfect embodiment of created beauty and form, and he is unsurpassed in his perfections. No one can rival or outstrip him in any laudable quality or trait. He knows Allah as He should be known. He fears Allah as He should be feared. He loves Allah as He should be loved. Understanding the Shama’il is absolutely critical to any proper understanding of Islam, for it details the qualities of the message-bearer, which fundamentally alters how we understand the message he brought.

Praise for the Shama'il

"This book is truly amazing. The level of thought and care is inspiring. First of all, the Arabic is based on the best edition recommended by scholars in Egypt. The English translation is masterful. The designs are beautiful and the footnotes add a lot to text. It’s a must-have. I very highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to know about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and to grow closer to him." – Aisha M.

"A beautiful book masha’Allah. The pages are as aesthetically pleasing as the words. A must-have for any Islamic library." – B. Smith

The Divine Reports (Mishkat al-Anwar)
Books

The Divine Reports is a translation of Mishkāt al-Anwār. It is a profound compilation of sacred hadiths (aḥādīth qudsiyya) gathered and transmitted by the celebrated Andalusian mystic and scholar, Ibn al-ʿArabī (1165–1240 CE), also known as The Greatest Master (al-Shaykh al-Akbar). This work presents over one hundred sayings attributed directly to Allah, conveyed through the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. These sayings are revered in the Islamic tradition for their spiritual depth, conveying divine speech that is distinct from the Qur'an yet illuminated by its authority.

The book is divided into three main sections:

  1. Hadiths with full chains of transmission (isnād) ending directly with Allah.
  2. Hadiths without isnād but nonetheless traced back to divine address.
  3. Additional sacred sayings that focus on divine mercy, judgment, and spiritual insight.

Themes throughout include Allah’s mercy, justice, provision, divine presence, and the intimate relationship between the Creator and His servants. Many hadiths emphasize the transformative power of remembrance (dhikr), love for others for the sake of Allah, sincerity, and contentment with divine decree.

The compilation also explores eschatological realities, including paradise, divine judgment, and intercession. Ibn al-ʿArabī compiled these hadiths partly inspired by the Prophetic narration that promises divine favor to those who preserve and share forty hadiths for the benefit of the ummah.

This English-Arabic edition, carefully translated and presented, makes accessible one of the most spiritually potent compilations in the Islamic tradition, reflecting the inner lights of divine address.

About Ibn al-ʿArabī

Ibn al-ʿArabi (1165–1240 CE) was a towering Andalusian scholar, philosopher, and poet known as The Greatest Master (al-Shaykh al-Akbar). Born in Murcia, Spain, he studied under leading scholars and spiritual masters across al-Andalus and North Africa. His travels took him to Makkah, Anatolia, and finally Damascus, where he taught and wrote extensively. Ibn al-ʿArabī authored over 300 works, including Fuṣūṣ al-Ḥikam and al-Futūḥāt al-Makkiyya, which explored metaphysics, divine love, and spiritual realities. He mentored Ṣadr al-Dīn al-Qūnawī and influenced generations of thinkers. His legacy continues to shape Islamic thought, spirituality, and philosophy to this day.

How to Draw Close to Allah
Print Books

How to Draw Close to Allah is an original IGP summary of Imam ʿAbdullāh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Ḥusaynī’s Drawing Near to Allah: Its Excellence, Method, and Stage. It is a profound exploration into the spiritual journey of a believer, aimed at guiding Muslims towards attaining closeness to Allah. This book delves into the concept of divine nearness, portraying it as the highest goal a believer can aspire to. Through detailed explanations supported by references from the Qur’an and Sunnah, Imam ʿAbdullāh Sirāj al-Dīn provides a clear roadmap for how to draw closer to Allah.

This book emphasizes the transformative nature of acts of worship, which are more than just ritualistic practices. They include prayer (Ṣalāh), which is depicted as a means of communication with Allah that purifies the soul and deters from indecency; almsgiving (Zakāh), which is presented as a way to purify one’s wealth and soul from miserliness; fasting (Ṣawm), portrayed as a shield against sin fostering self-discipline and gratitude; and pilgrimage (Ḥajj), described as an ultimate act of submission and humility symbolizing the believer’s migration towards Allah. Each act of worship is shown to have unique spiritual benefits and effects, purifying and elevating the believer. The text explains that these acts transform the believer, elevating them from mere existence to divine companionship.

This edition includes the Arabic text as well as the English translation.

Heaven Explored: A Description of Jannah
Book

In a world increasingly driven by materialism and immediate gratification, Heaven Explored: A Description of Jannah offers a glimpse into the divine promise that awaits the faithful. This beautiful work by Sayyid Muhammad b. 'Alawi al-Maliki, translated into English by Shaykh Ahmad Shaist, unveils the Islamic vision of Jannah, a realm beyond human imagination. By compiling the numerous vivid descriptions of Jannah in the Qur'an and Hadith, this text brings the reader on a profound journey, which instills hope and provides both solace and much-needed perspective.

In his inimitable style, the late Sayyid weaves together the different descriptions and discusses them both as reality and as metaphors for spiritual fulfillment and eternal closeness to Allah, providing a nuanced understanding of the afterlife that transcends literal interpretations. "What No Eye Has Seen," or as rendered in this translation, “Heaven Explored”, is a compelling read for anyone interested in acquainting themselves with the nature of Jannah for the believers. This book is more than an academic treatise; it is a journey towards understanding the divine promise that lies at the heart of a believer’s journey to Allah – the promise of a Paradise beyond the limits of human imagination, meeting the Beloved of Allah ﷺ by the Pond, and seeing Allah, the Exalted.

Heaven Explored: A Description of Jannah goes beyond theological exploration, presenting Paradise as both a future abode and a guiding principle for living a righteous, purposeful life. In this edition, Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki’s insights are brought to life through Shaykh Ahmad Shaist's meticulous translation, making the work accessible to a global English-speaking audience. As Sayyid Zain al-Haddad and Shaykh Musab Penfound write in the foreword, this work is "a beacon for those seeking to comprehend the profound mysteries of the Hereafter"

The 40 Hadith of Imam al-Nawawi
Print Books

Known in Arabic simply as the Arba'in, "The Forty," this is without question the most widely-known and widely-read small compilation of Prophetic hadith. Across the world, from the east to the west, Imam al-Nawawi's collection is often the first, and sometimes the only Hadith text many Muslims study in their lives.

Each hadith in this collection and serves as a foundational proof text in at least one area of the Islamic sciences. Being of such importance, these Hadith are also incredibly dense in meaning; one of Allah's gifts to His Prophet ﷺ was the ability to convey volumes in only a few words, and the Hadith of the Arba'in are among the best examples of this.

IGI's edition of al-Nawawi's Arba'in includes:

  • New translation of each Hadith
  • Succinct gems to ponder the significance and major themes of each Hadith
  • Short biography of Imam al-Nawawi
  • Paperback; 100 pages
  • Foreword by Shaykh Abdullah Anik Misra
  • Translation by Talut Dawood

This is a beautiful edition that is easy and pleasurable to read, that you will return to again and again, and that we hope will live on your shelf for many years to come.

Futuwwah and Raising Males into Sacred Manhood
Print Books

Futuwwah and Raising Males into Sacred Manhood concisely discusses the principles within futuwwah, or spiritual chivalry, that young men should strive to embody and should inculcate into our communities. While the virtues discusses in this text are not all exclusively related to young males becoming men, this book is tailored towards males, and the specific issues faced by males as they strive to grow into the path of manhood. Just as young women need their own spaces to learn from women how to become honorable sisters, young men require their own special places to instill in them the virtues of upright brothers.

The Islamic tradition calls for a revival of organized training relating to spiritual chivalry and sacred manhood - this is the task of the hour. There are beautiful and majestic qualities embodied by the Prophet s that he passed down to his family members and pious Companions. Those upright men were methodically raised up: they undertook rites of passage, and manly responsibilities which were placed upon them with expectations that they would be executed with excellence.

This book begins by establishing the linguistic and operational definitions of the Arabic word futuwwah, translated here as "spiritual chivalry." The text then discusses the essential virtues for developing healthy manhood, in a specific order of their priority in teaching. The Qur'anic verses, Prophetic narrations, and sayings of pious Companions and scholars on the subject of futuwwah are related with sound meaning, accompanied by meticulous citations in footnotes and endnotes.

The Muslim Handbook of Etiquette and Manners
Print Books

This book is a new translation of Imam al-Ghazali's Adab fi al-Din, a concise yet thorough guide to proper Islamic conduct and character in a wide range of life situations. While numerous works discuss adab - translated here as "etiquette and manners" - this text stands out for its practical approach, structured in the manner of a handbook for quick and easy reference when the need appears.

Al-Ghazali begins by outlining the essential principles that govern all interactions with other people and with oneself, and which every Muslim should strive to embody and cultivate within his or her life. He then proceeds to a discussion of adab with Allah, as the relationship with the Creator is at the heart of a Muslim’s character. The Imam details how one may cultivate reverence, humility, and mindfulness in this relationship, and provides practical advice regarding how to consistently remember Allāh, fulfill His commands, and show patience during life’s challenges.

The core of the book is a sort of practical manual of adab, and includes sections on such everyday issues as:

  • The Adab of the Scholar, Student, Reciter of the Qur'an, Muhaddith, Khatib, and many other roles related to worship and seeking knowledge
  • Adab of fasting, eating, drinking, giving and receiving charity, giving and receiving gifts, and of being wealthy or poor
  • Adab of sleep, waking, being in public and in social gatherings, and other ordinary life situations
  • Adab of husbands and wives, parents and children, and other relationships
  • Adab of some common professions

Most individual sections occupy no more than one page, with some requiring only a short paragraph to cover the essential issues that guide one's approach to each scenario. The book then concludes with a discussion of universal adab, a general discussion that applies to many disparate areas of life.

Regarding the sources of our knowledge of adab, as well as its significance in the life of a believer, the Imam writes:

The most perfect and lofty character as well as the best and most splendid of actions is to have adab [good manners] as [explained by] the religion. It is for the believer to emulate the actions of the Lord of the Worlds, as well as the character of the prophets and messengers. Allah, the most High, has refined our manners through His exposition of the Quran as well as through His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by commanding us to [adhere to] his sunna. [We owe Him] for this benevolence. He has also refined our manners through the companions, their successors, as well as the people of adab from amongst the believers, by obligating us to emulate them.

This is a text that the reader will want to keep within easy reach, and consult regularly for guidance on the many and varied situations that occur in one's life.

Introduction to Islamic Creed (Bajuri's Epistle)
Book

This book is the first step to properly and formally studying the Islamic belief (aqidah). It is intended for both youth and adult.

As a response to a request, Imam al-Bajuri outlines the core beliefs of the orthodox Sunni doctrine (aqidah) that must be known by every Muslim. Designed to be studied with a teacher or read on one's own, this text will equip the student with sufficient knowledge of the essentials of Muslim theology to be able to distinguish truth from falsehood, orthodox from heterodox, Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama'a or Sunni Islam from other than it. It is hoped that by including the facing, vocalized Arabic script that 1) students of Sacred Knowledge will be aided in learning the language of the Qur’an, the Prophet (saws), and the ulama, 2) it will serve as a teaching aid for the ulama when teaching this text to reference the original work and 3) to preserve the actual words of Imam al-Bajuri.

Shedding Light on the Possibility of Seeing Prophets and Angels...
Book

This is a short but valuable text that elucidates one of the more controversial issues related to the people of Tasawwuf, and more specifically to the people of unveiling. Although many of the Imams and people of lofty status, whom no one could accuse of lying, have reported seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a wakeful state, the issue remains problematic for some Scholars, among both the supporters and the critics of the Sufis.

Imam al-Suyuti argues that such a vision is not only possible, but that there are many well-documented examples of such visions, both  in the time of the Sahabah (radhi Allahu 'anhum ajma'in) and afterwards. The Imam begins with texts that are irrefutable, from the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, which establish the explicit possibility of the occurrence of such visions. Al-Suyuti then presents sound anecdotal evidence that such encounters have occurred in the past, mentioning stories from the Companions (radhi Allahu 'anhum ajma'in) and from the righteous Scholars and Imams (may Allah have mercy on them). Finally, Imam al-Suyuti concludes this short treatise by providing answers to various possible and plausible objections.

Overall, this book is recommended as an introduction to the subject, which is covered in detail in the works of many of the Awliya' (may Allah have mercy on them).

The Burdah of Busiri (Leather PU Case)
Book

Instantly recognized anywhere in the world by its epithet, the Burdah is a timeless tribute to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which — although penned In the 12th century CE — still resonates deeply due to the affinity generated by the author’s spiritual journey.

Designed by Naveed Hameed; Translated by Shaykh Adnaan Raja

The poem begins with Imam al-Busiri’s struggle against his ego, as he showcases the hallmarks of true Muhammadan love. Through praising the Prophet ﷺ , narrating events and miracles from the Prophet’s ﷺ life, as well as lauding the majesty of the Holy Qur’an, the ode culminates with Imam al-Busiri’s miraculous rehabilitation, as he petitions the Prophet ﷺ. All of which takes place with the Imam turning back to Allah ﷻ during reconciliation with his faith, and a noetic realization about the reality of the world.

Praise for "The Burdah"

"It is beautifully wrapped in lovely brown leather like a precious pearl. The Arabic font is easy to read and the English translation helps to understand with additional side notes explaining it further. I'm mesmerized after my first sitting of recitation. I would recommend to give yourself time to recite and take it slowly. Read the side notes simultaneously with the Arabic and English translation. Let it sink in your heart slowly to enlighten it with the love of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ." – Wajid Ali

Book

In the age that we live in, our days have become our nights, and our nights have become our days wherein we are continually focusing on matters of this temporary life and turning a blind eye to that which matters, such as the teachings of the best of creation, the one who uttered in a supplication: “O Allah, my Nation, my Nation!”, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

This compilation is unique in that each form of prayer highlights the connection between the Messenger ﷺ and the Names and Qualities of Allah ﷻ. In addition, each form includes a unique supplication for the one reciting it. The reciter of these prayers thus finds himself engaging in the remembrance of Allah ﷻ by calling Him through His Most Sublime Names, and asking Him to send prayers and increase the honour and rank of the Messenger ﷺ. By doing this, he obtains the virtues and reward of sending prayers upon the Prophet, and also supplicates to Allah, asking Him such amazing things that we are generally unable to think of when asking of Him.

The author, Ḥabīb ʿUmar bin Ḥafīẓ, is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. ﷺ, and one of the great luminaries of our time. This salawat collection has been made available to English speakers for whom we ask Allah ﷻ to make it a means to attain proximity, in this life and the Hereafter, to Him ﷻ and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
