Fiqh of Social Media
Book

Authored by Omar Usman

Social media and digital technologies have changed our lives and there is no indication that things will slow down. As Muslims, we believe that Islam contains the most perfect guidance for all of mankind to follow. How do we implement that timeless advice in our unprecedented times? That is the focus of the Fiqh of Social Media.

Praise for "Fiqh of Social Media"

"I am grateful and appreciative of my friend, Omar Usman, for exhausting available resources; Islamic, psychological, secular, and business, to develop the work you see before you. We have had long discussions pertaining to many of the topics covered in this book. I am confident that you will find this book to be beneficial, and I pray that it inspires more contributions on this topic." -Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda, Qalam Institute

“Reading Fiqh of Social Media is like sitting with your best friend from Sunday school and having an intellectual & spiritual conversation about the impact of social media on your life. Omar distills years of research, experience, and thought leadership in an easily digestible book that you can enjoy with a good cup of coffee (and your phone off!)” -Mohammed Faris, The Productive Muslim Company

“The Prophet (s) said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say something good or keep silent.” The ability to control our tongues, how we communicate with others, is an expression of our faith. Communication has evolved and changed so much that one of the primary ways many of us communicate with others is through social media; hashtags and 280 characters. This is a long-awaited work from my good friend and Hajj companion Omar Usman who has been writing, tweeting, speaking, and teaching about the Fiqh of Social Media for years. This is a valuable work providing guidance on how to use and benefit from social media in a way that conforms to our principles and values.” -Shaykh Furhan Zubairi, Institute of Knowledge

“Ulama of the past have written on the adaab of speech and social interaction. Connecting those guidelines with the modern world of social media has been the need of our time. May Allah reward Omar for taking this task on!” -Mufti Hussain Kamani

“This is a must-read for Muslims around the globe. I can’t thank Omar enough for this work which forces Muslims to look in the mirror and answer tough questions about how social media has impacted our lives. It questions why we desire to share the most intimate aspects of our lives with strangers from around the world and provides action items to implement. These discussions need to be had within the Muslim community. We have to question how our quality of life has been impacted by the age of hyper-connectivity. Due to the fact that Social Media is the tool for creating social capital, we need to realize that speaking about the harms of constant connectivity takes a lot of courage. Thank you, Omar, for this work.” -Shaykh Mikaeel Smith

The Salawat of Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari (Illuminated Leather PU Edition)
Print Books

This text is a collection of approximately 400 unique salawat composed by Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari. Similar to the famous Dala'il al-Khayrat of Imam al-Jazuli, the text is arranged into seven chapters, with one chapter for each day of the week. However, rather than a collection of traditional salawat like the Dala’il, the Salawat of Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari is an original text reflecting the knowledge, insight, and outpourings of the Shaykh.

Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari was a master of the sacred sciences, and one of the most respected scholars of the Ahl al-Sunnah w'al Jama'at of his generation. However, although he served as Imam of al-Azhar for many years, he is perhaps better known in the West today as one of the the foremost Arabic poets of the past century. These salawat are extremely beautiful, and the reader cannot help but notice their extreme beauty and eloquence. Even those who read Arabic at a beginner-level will benefit, while those who read and speak Arabic fluently will perceive many subtleties of the text’s language, composition, and meanings.

Throughout Egypt, Sudan, east Africa, southeast Asia, and elsewhere, thousands of people recite each day's portion of the Salawat of Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari consistently. These salawat have continued to become ever more widely known and more beloved in the years since the Shaykh death, may God have mercy on him. It's possible to imagine that, in time, the Salawat of Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari may become as famous and widely known as Imam al-Jazuli's collection.

This premium leather PU edition of The Salawat of Shaykh Salih al-Ja’fari is designed to present the text with dignity, honor, and adornment befitting its lofty status. With its leather PU-bound hardcover, inlaid cover design, beautifully ornamented page borders, and gold illumination throughout the text, this is certain to be one of the most beautiful books on any shelf.

Those who intend to read the salawat regularly or daily may consider purchasing the compact and durable pocket edition of this text as well. The leather PU + pocket editions are also available as a bundle here.

The Noble Hilya Sharif
Poster

Note: please be aware that this product is a poster.

The Noble Hilya Sharif is a calligraphic design meant to remind the one who gazes on it of the blessed qualities & characteristics of the Prophet ﷺ. Originating in Ottoman times, the Hilya Sharif has historically been displayed in a prominent place in Muslim households throughout the world.

This version of the Hilya contains the following elements:

  • The basmala at the top
  • A large central disc containing the text of hadith 7 of Imam al-Tirmidhi's Al-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya, which is a description of the Prophet ﷺ
  • Four smaller discs around the larger disc containing the names of the four rightly-guided caliphs
  • Verse 68:4 of the Qur’an, which is a description of the Prophet ﷺ
  • The remainder of the text of hadith 7 of the Shama’il at the bottom, followed by prayers and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ

The Hilya Sharif is meant to be displayed in a place of honour, such that the one who gazes upon it will be reminded of Allah's Messenger ﷺ and inspired to send prayers and blessings upon him ﷺ frequently.

In this present time, we believe it is particularly important to revive the practice of displaying the Hilya Sharif in our homes. That’s why IGI has made a version of the Hilya Sharif available in our bookstore.

Perhaps the terrible events of recent times, related to deliberately offensive depictions of Allah’s noble Messenger ﷺ, can serve as a catalyst for Muslims across the world to revive this practice of connecting to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ through the beautiful word portrait of the Hilya Sharif.

In the Company of the Quran – An Explanation of...
Book

In the Company of the Quran – an Explanation of Sūrah al-Kahf by Shaykh Dr. Furhan Zubairi is the inaugural volume of what is intended to be a commentary on the entire Qur'an, to fulfill the author's life-long intention to complete a traditionally grounded modern tafsir written in English for a Western Muslim audience. This first volume discusses one of the Quran’s most frequently-read sūrahs. Drawing from classical scholarship, modern reflections, and a clear, concise writing style, Dr. Furhan illuminates the depth and beauty of Sūrah al-Kahf—making it accessible for readers of all backgrounds.

Inside this volume, readers will discover the timeless lessons from the famous “People of the Cave,” who courageously stood firm in their faith, seeking divine protection in a miraculous slumber. Dr. Furhan also discusses how this chapter teaches the fleeting nature of worldly life through vivid imagery and reminders that everything around us is temporary. Dr. Furhan’s unique style seamlessly blends context, linguistic insights, and moral teachings, allowing readers to engage with Sūrah al-Kahf on multiple levels.

In the Company of the Quran – An Explanation of Sūrah al-Kahf extends beyond mere linguistic or historical background. Instead, Shaykh Dr. Furhan Zubairi connects each verse’s enduring relevance to modern challenges, offering practical reflections on worship, relationships, personal conduct, and moral integrity. By weaving scholarly sources with relatable examples, he makes a deeper understanding of the text accessible to all audiences.

The Tao of War
Book

The Tao of War is a training manual of Applied Philosophy, and a guide to those seeking to walk the path of the Warrior Poet. The Martial Arts are traditionally understood to be an outward practice related to “fighting”, which is the mastering of others, and an inward practice of “fighting”, which is the mastering of the self. The fighting without philosophy can become tyranny, while the philosophy never put into action is lame. It is the blending of application and philosophy which produces the Martial Arts, and from the Martial Arts emerges the human archetype of the Warrior Poet.

The Tao of War is a map which draws upon the subtleties and secrets of the Martial Arts to assist seekers of truth in locating deeper visions of reality and selfhood. It explores both metaphysical and practical realities pertaining to the path of the Warrior Poet, and is an invaluable resource for student and teacher alike.

About the Author

Mikhail Abdul-Latif is an author, poet, musician, and lifelong martial artist from Seattle, Washington. He holds national wrestling titles in both Canada and the United States, is a Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, and spent many years traveling the world as a professional athlete while studying under various masters of martial arts and spiritual traditions. As an instructor and educator, he strives to help his students integrate the philosophical, practical, artistic, and spiritual aspects of their pursuits.

Praise for The Tao of War

Mikhail Abdul-Latif has written a compelling manual to guide the poet or spiritual warrior. He does so through a thoughtful examination of the philosophy undergirding the martial arts, along with an examination of the utility of various martial arts themselves. He posits that just as the fight against the outer enemy cannot be divorced from the fight against the inner enemy, the true martial arts cannot be separated from fighting itself. When these separations occur they leave fraud in their wake. As Mikhail reminds us, war is real. Its true reality is not to be found in brutalizing the weak and downtrodden, violence for the sake of violence, base domination, or weapon sales. Rather, it is in the liberation and protection of the soul, internal processes that lay the path for the liberation and protection of others. The beauty of war is to be found in this meaning. Hence, the beauty of the martial arts. 'The Tao of War' is a penetrating examination of that beauty.

The Greatest Leader of All Time
Book
In this book, readers will go on a journey through Prophetic leadership. To know what leadership truly entails, the blessed example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Greatest Leader of All Time, will be studied, clarified, and distilled by the authors via the following 3-step leadership framework:

  • Step 1 – Change Yourself
    • Master the 15 Most Important Character Traits of Leaders & Develop the Leader Within You

  • Step 2 – Change Your World
    • Master the 13 Most Important Abilities of Leaders & Effectively Lead Those Around You

  • Step 3 – Change The World
    • Master the 13 Advanced Leadership Principles & Your Leadership Impact Will Be Felt Far & Wide

With this, readers will come to understand how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the only human being to have mastered every single one of the above-mentioned traits, abilities, and advanced leadership principles. His profound example ﷺ will be compared to other great leaders, Muslim and non-Muslim, who have exemplified some of these traits — all to show why his example ﷺ is the greatest. These are accompanied by lessons and practical examples that can be incorporated into daily life immediately.

Whether you are a mother or father in charge of leading a family, a CEO in charge of an organization, a middle manager or sports coach in charge of leading a team, or just someone who cares about the world and wants to make an impact to improve it, we are all shepherds, as the hadith goes:

‘All of you are shepherds and each of you is responsible for his flock…’ [Sahih al-Bukhari]

A leader is the modern-day equivalent of the ‘shepherd’ referred to in this hadith — and as Muslim leaders, we must have a solid understanding of what’s happening in the world around us both past and present to better position ourselves as an ummah.

Seeking Hope & Success Through Reading About the Messenger  & His Birth

A Beautiful Reader on the Birth of the Perfect Man ﷺ

This work honors and celebrates the blessed birth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Maṭāli‘ al-Jamāl fī Mawlid Insān al-Kamāl—translated as 'A Beautiful Reader on the Birth of the Perfect Man ﷺ'—is an elegant and spiritually rich work. Written by the saintly scholar Sayyid Muḥammad ibn al-Mukhtār al-Tijānī al-Shinqīṭī (d. 1299 AH), it reflects the eloquence, depth, and spiritual insight of the scholars of West Africa and the wider tradition of that region.

It does not restrict itself to the blessed moment of the Prophet’s birth; rather, it traces the luminous journey of the Muḥammadan Reality—from the primordial light created before all things, to its transfer through the noble lineage of the prophets, until it shone forth in the person of Muḥammad ﷺ. The text recounts how the Prophet’s conception and birth were accompanied by cosmic signs, angelic celebrations, and divine glad tidings, centering his role as the axis of creation and the crown of existence.

The work is enriched with a moving munfarijah (plea for relief), written by the author’s disciple, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥusayn. This heartfelt supplication teaches believers how to turn to Allah in moments of hardship, affirming that “difficulty is the door to relief” and that patience opens the way to divine ease. Such sections make the Mawlid not only a commemoration, but also a guide for present struggles, offering solace, hope, and reliance upon Allah.

The author also composed two distinctive prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ that are included within this work.

Obtainment of Objectives and Hopes Through Reciting the Story of the Birth of the Best of Creation ﷺ

This luminous Mawlid and Seerah text, composed by the distinguished Moroccan scholar and hadith master Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Ḥajūjī al-Tijānī (d. 1370 AH/1950 CE), stands as a devotional tribute to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a profound testimony to his blessed exalted station. It is presented here in Arabic with an English translation for both devotional and study use.

The text commences with majestic praises of Allah and His Beloved ﷺ, portraying the Prophet as the primordial light from which all creation was brought forth and as the axis of divine mercy that sustains existence. It continues by recounting the noble conception and blessed birth of the Prophet ﷺ, interweaving classical narrations with descriptions of the cosmic signs, angelic celebrations, and miracles that marked his blessed arrival into the world.

Complete Elation & Happiness Through the Birth of the Locus of Light ﷺ

Among the masterpieces of Islamic devotional literature is Kamāl al-Faraḥ wa al-Surūr bi Mawlid Maẓhar al-Nūr by the eminent Moroccan scholar and jurist Shaykh Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥājj al-ʿIyāshī Sukayrij (1878–1944). Written at the turn of the 20th century while still a young man, this Mawlid reflects the author’s deep erudition and spiritual insight, qualities that later made him one of the most celebrated scholars of North Africa and the wider ummah.

This work is not just a telling of the Prophet’s ﷺ birth, but a rich work full of praise, narrations, and reflections that weave together love, reverence, and knowledge. It opens with exalted praises of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, affirming that through the Prophet’s coming into the world, happiness was perfected, grief lifted, and the doors of divine mercy opened. The text repeatedly emphasizes that all blessings and every form of felicity flow through him ﷺ, the Locus of Light and axis of existence.

The Mawlid also touches upon the Muḥammadan Reality, describing how the Prophet ﷺ was the primordial light created before time itself. Through poetic imagery and narrations, it details the spiritual veils, cosmic signs, and divine honors that surrounded his conception and birth. It describes how the heavens and earth rejoiced, disbelief trembled, and joy filled the hearts of the believers when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the world.

Qasa'id for Rabiʿ al-Awwal & The Ahmadan Outpouring ﷺ

This luminous collection, Qaṣāʾid wa Abyāt li-Rabīʿ al-Awwal wa al-Fayḍ al-Aḥmadī, gathers together the poems and devotional couplets of Shaykh al-Islām Ibrāhīm Niasse (1900–1975), one of the greatest Muslim scholars of the 20th century. Known to millions across West Africa and beyond as the bringer of the Fayḍah Muḥammadiyyah (the Muhammadan Outpouring), Shaykh Ibrāhīm recited these verses throughout the blessed month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, the season of the Prophet’s ﷺ birth.

The poems themselves weave together praise, history, and awe. They describe the light of the Prophet ﷺ that existed before creation, his safe transfer through the noble lineages of prophets, and the miraculous events that marked his birth. Āminah’s vision of castles illuminated, the idols of Quraysh crumbling, fires extinguished, and seas stilled—all appear in vivid imagery that fills the heart with reverence.

The text repeatedly greets the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal with joy: “Welcome to the month of the birth, the month of exaltedness and eminence, the month of the Prophet Aḥmad, the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal." Each stanza connects the Prophet’s ﷺ birth to divine mercy and cosmic renewal, reminding the believer that his arrival was the beginning of hope, the lifting of burdens, and the illumination of the horizons.

Verses also highlight the Prophet’s exalted character and unique station: the one “who never wronged at all, from whom only goodness issued forth." His name is described as joined with Allah’s own, proclaimed five times daily in the call to prayer. His virtues are without limit, such that any honor or praise ascribed to him only falls short of his true reality.

The poems then move into collective supplication, seeking from Allah guidance, provision, protection, and a blessed end through the status of the Messenger ﷺ. These closing sections underline the purpose of the Mawlid: to remind the believer that love of the Prophet ﷺ is inseparable from seeking nearness to Allah.

Beyond the beauty of the poems themselves, the edition is enriched with Arabic text and facing English translation making it easy for both for devotional recitation and for study.

What this course offers

Through a guided, close reading of the Shamāʾil, students can expect:

• A deep and grounded understanding of the character, conduct, and personal qualities of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
• Insight into why knowing the Prophet ﷺ is central to understanding every aspect of Islam
• A richer appreciation of the worldview of the Companions رضي الله عنهم and the early generations
• A renewed and strengthened love for the Prophet ﷺ, and a desire to follow him inwardly and outwardly

Understanding the Shamāʾil is not supplementary to the religion. It is foundational. To know the Messenger ﷺ is to understand the message he carried, and to encounter Islam not as abstraction, but as lived reality.

This is a live course held via Zoom. Sessions are designed to be reflective and accessible, while remaining rooted in traditional scholarship. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions, and all enrolled participants will receive access to the full recording archive.

Another year has passed. The resolutions you made last January faded by February. The changes you promised yourself never took root. The gap between who you are and who you know you could become remains as wide as ever.

This cycle can end.

The Year Ahead: A Muslim’s Guide to Real Change offers a comprehensive framework for genuine transformation, grounded in the Quran and Sunnah while drawing on contemporary insights into habit formation, goal-setting, and sustainable change. Written for Muslims who are tired of broken promises and abandoned aspirations, this book provides the practical tools and spiritual foundations needed to finally move forward.

Within these pages, you will learn how to conduct an honest audit of your life across its essential domains. You will discover the hidden power of intention and how it transforms ordinary actions into worship. You will master the craft of setting goals that produce real results and building habits that endure. You will prepare for the inevitable moments of failure and learn how to rise quickly when you fall. You will understand how to protect your time from the thieves that steal it and how to surround yourself with companions who elevate your journey. And you will cultivate istiqamah, the quality of steadfastness that carries you forward when motivation fades.

The Year Ahead meets you at the threshold of a new beginning, but its principles apply whenever you are ready to start again. Whether you seek to deepen your prayer, strengthen your family, improve your health, grow in knowledge, or simply become a better Muslim, the path forward starts here.

SAÂDETÎ-YI RÛM writes with the warmth of a trusted companion and the clarity of a practical guide. Drawing on Islamic scholarship and lived experience, he offers neither empty motivation nor impossible ideals. He offers a realistic, grounded approach to becoming who Allah created you to be.

The year ahead is unwritten. The person you could become awaits at the end of the road. The door of transformation stands open.
