Ta-Ha Publishers

Ta-Ha Publishers was founded in March 1980 by husband and wife team, Afsar Siddiqui and Dr Jamal-un-Nisa Rafai. Despite being successful in their own respective fields, they felt they could do more by working together and for the sake of Allah to further the understanding and love of Islam among English speaking Muslims. So the idea was born in the late 70s to found an independent publishing house. The name that they settled upon was Ta-Ha, because of the story that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab turned to Islam after hearing verses from Surah Ta-Ha.

The first small booklets were printed in 1980, illustrated by Afsar and typeset by hand, retailing for 40p. Dr Jamal-un-Nisa compiled a series of quiz books for children and later wrote the first word-by word English translation of six parts of the Qur’an. Since then, Ta-Ha has published over 400 titles on a range of subjects that are distributed all over the world.

History
A Social History of Education in the Muslim World: From the Prophetic Era to Ottoman Times provides a comprehensive view of education and society in the Muslim world throughout the five key historic periods. The book asks intriguing questions such as, how has the Muslim quest for knowledge defined education, how have a range of Muslim educational institutions evolved through out the various historical periods and how has this social history affected contemporary Islamic education. Using historical sources, the author explores the background, the development and the impact of education in the major Sunni Caliphal cities commencing from Madinah to Damascus, Baghdad, Cairo and Istanbul.

Educational
Tarim is the setting of a forty day Dowra (intensive course in traditional Islamic sciences) that was attended by Ethar El-Katatney in summer 2008 for the purpose of religious learning and self development. This photo-diary weaves together her life-changing experiences, the fascinating people that she met, the historic places she visited and a few of the pearls of wisdom that were passed onto her by the respected scholars that she was privileged enough to spend time with. The reader is given a portrait of a place where real Islam has penetrated the heart of the people and is truly a way of life.

Dajjal: The Anti Christ - Hardback
Educational

Dajjal the Anti-Christ is not simply a catalogue of such prophecies, nor is it concerned with analysing specific events in the light of these prophecies. In viewing life in general in the late twentieth century the book is not merely a 'religious' critique of an aimless society. Rather, it examines and compares the outward existential behaviour, along with its inward psychological reality, both of those who do not base their way of life on Prophetic guidance and those that do.

This book is a serious and informative report on what many believe is a sinister conspiracy to establish control over the population of the world. The conspiracy is exposed with some compelling evidence, and explained in straightforward terms, through which what is really happening in the world today seems suddenly very clear.

" The more you embody the illusory ideal of the perfect consumer-producer
as depicted in the media... the greater is your reputation for success in the
             consumer-producer game
."

Written by a respected Muslim author, "Dajjal, the Anti Christ" is a new and revised edition of his earlier book "Dajjal, the King who has no Clothes". The word "Dajjal" is meaningless to most people outside the Muslim or Arab community, but this work deals with changes and events on a global scale which are currently familiar to everyone. "Dajjal" can be understood as synonymous with "Nuvus Ordo Seclorum" - the New Order of the Ages.

Not every reader will be interested in reading the enthusiastic recommendations of Islam, as an alternative to the Dajjal lifestyle, which are offered at regular intervals in the text. All who read this book will be enthralled by the striking comparisons drawn between the direction of modern international affairs and the ancient Muslim prophecy of the end of the world. Present-day observations clearly resemble very specific signs, which Muslims believe will immediately precede and forewarn the arrival of the anti-Christ and the advent of Judgement Day.

This is essential reading for anyone concerned about the important contemporary issues of globalisation and capitalism, and the book should not be overlooked by readers interested in the New World Order conspiracy theory or end-times

Banking - The Root Cause of the Injustices of Our...
History
The original 1987 Norwich seminar Usury: The Root Cause of the Injustices of Our Time, whose proceedings form the core of this work, had an extraordinary effect. After the endless analyses and altercations of left and right to which we were accustomed, here was an argument that went to the core of the matter in one bound, and yet did so with a degree of scholarship and indeed erudition that was not cavalier. The result was electric. It was also well before its time. This book contains the texts of the original lectures as well as some contemporary material that updates it. The 80 s material was remarkably prescient, as the reader will discover. However, history has furnished us another opportunity the catastrophic bank collapses of 2008 and the impending total systems shutdown of 2009 to revisit this vital material and place it before the reader. Whatever the result of the signal events of 2008-9 a slide into depression, cataclysmic upheaval or a rebound into dynamic activity the argument in this work still stands: Usury is demonstrably the motor of the injustices of our age. That is the bad news, whose necessary corollary, a delineation of the way out of our global predicament, this book explores.

The Last Battle for the Truth
History

This is the story of the great expedition of Tabuk against the Eastern half of the Roman Empire as well as the events leading up to it. This is of significance as it was the last expedition in which the Prophet Muhammad actually took part in. The story is told through the eyes of one of the Companions, Ka’b ibn Malikرضي الله عنه, and is based on hadith from Bukhari, Muslim and Abu Dawud. Illustrated in colour and recommended for ages 11 and over.

Chronology of Prophetic Events
History
The author examines in fascinating detail the discrepancies between dates in assorted calenders - the intercalated pre-islamic, the Hijri, and the Julian calenders - and the days of the week ascribed to different events in the sirah of the Prophet (saw). He painstakingly relates them to the different theoretical attempts evolved by scholars to try to make sense of the contradictions, and then makes an utterly compelling case for the one system that makes rational sense of all the data. This matter is of more than academic interest, since it is directly related to the fact that Islam is not a type of middle eastern myth - as New Testament Christianity and Old Testament Judaismare are increasingly regarded by modern man - but a clearly historical phenomenon whose revelation - the Qur'an - and whose practice - the Sunnah - derive directly from the Messenger of Allah (saw), one revealed from on high by the Divine and the other the embodiment by the Messenger and his noble family and companions of that revelation under the careful guidance of Allah.

On The Elucidation of The Marvels of The Heart
English

This is a translation of the book Kitab Sharh 'Aja'ib al-Qalb (On the Elucidation of the Marvels of the Heart). The original Arabic volume is Book XXI (21) of the classic work Ihya 'Ulum al-Din (the Revival of the Religious Sciences), which Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazzali wrote.

To appreciate the value of this book, there are no better words than Imam an-Nawawi who said that if all the books of Islam disappeared except The Book of Allah and the Ihya, it would suffice you.

This volume elucidates the marvels of the heart. The Imam deals authoritatively with heart diseases and their cures.

History

History, like beauty, is to a great extent in the eyes of the beholder. Descriptions of the sane events inevitably differ, depending on who is giving the description, and from which perspective; and interpretations of events are even more diverse, especially when they come from people who did not actually witness what happened. There are, however, two basic perspectives from which history can be (and in fact always has been) viewed – whether it is ancient or modern, long past or still in process of taking place, in the library or in the daily media – and these can be identified as the prophetic perspective and the kafir perspective. This book explores and analyses these two perspectives, and in so doing draws attention to what happens in life.
