Ta-Ha Publishers was founded in March 1980 by husband and wife team, Afsar Siddiqui and Dr Jamal-un-Nisa Rafai. Despite being successful in their own respective fields, they felt they could do more by working together and for the sake of Allah to further the understanding and love of Islam among English speaking Muslims. So the idea was born in the late 70s to found an independent publishing house. The name that they settled upon was Ta-Ha, because of the story that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab turned to Islam after hearing verses from Surah Ta-Ha.
The first small booklets were printed in 1980, illustrated by Afsar and typeset by hand, retailing for 40p. Dr Jamal-un-Nisa compiled a series of quiz books for children and later wrote the first word-by word English translation of six parts of the Qur’an. Since then, Ta-Ha has published over 400 titles on a range of subjects that are distributed all over the world.

The Life, Works and Teaching of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio
This scholarly work focuses on the establishment in 1809, in what is today Northern Nigeria, of the celebrated Sokoto caliphate by Shehu (Sheikh) Usman Dan Fodio, which may well have been the last complete re-establishment, anywhere in the world, of Islam in its entirety, comprising all its many and varied dimensions.
History, like beauty, is to a great extent in the eyes of the beholder. Descriptions of the sane events inevitably differ, depending on who is giving the description, and from which perspective; and interpretations of events are even more diverse, especially when they come from people who did not actually witness what happened. There are, however, two basic perspectives from which history can be (and in fact always has been) viewed – whether it is ancient or modern, long past or still in process of taking place, in the library or in the daily media – and these can be identified as the prophetic perspective and the kafir perspective. This book explores and analyses these two perspectives, and in so doing draws attention to what happens in life.
Throughout history, civilisation has continuously passed through stages, and records bear out the progress achieved by humankind in ancient Egypt and Greece. After this, there was the golden age of scientific progress during the heyday of Muslim rule. When the Muslims faced decline on account of their internal bickering and other factors, the Europeans took over not only wealth and territory from them, but they established their supremacy in the domain of technical scientific knowledge as well. Contemporary youth is familiar with the contributions of Western scholars to Zoology and Botany, yet he knows nothing about the fact that the Muslims had introduced several centuries ago the artificial insemiation of animals and grafting of fruit-bearing plants. The discovery of America is attributed to Columbus yet it is unknown to him that the Arab navigators had reached the shores of the New World much earlier than Columbus, something borne out of the testimony of historical evidence. Scholars have made many attempts to remove the widespread ignorance about Muslims' contributions to knowledge. There is no shortage of voluminous works on the subject. However, most of these scholarly works are beyond the reach and understanding of the general public and the young students. Realising this need, the present work has been compiled in order to show a glimpse of the rich Muslim heritage.
"This book is based on the author's doctoral thesis, Responses in Islamic Jurisprudence to Developments in Medical Science. It examines some of the most burning issues of the last four decades of the twentieth century. He examines in depth a wide range of legal and moral aspects of responsibility and medical liability within the context of the deen of Islam, with particular reference to: euthanasia, prevention and termination of pregnancy, reproduction and cloning, and transplantation. What are the bases in fiqh that guide medical practitioners in their daily work as they avail themselves of the developments in medical science? Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz has provided the medical profession and fuqaha with what may well prove to be a standard reference."
The Qur'an and Hadith refer to the heart as an organ of understanding, thinking and feeling. This book begins by examining the 'intelligence' of the heart according to the Qur'an and hadith and shows how science is only now beginning to discover what has been known to Muslims for over 1400 years. Recognizing that the key to Eternal life is a Pure Heart, the second part of the book examines the main diseases of the heart and their cures according to Islam.
Being a teenager is not an easy business. You're told you are "too young" to do half the things you want to do; your mother is always asking you to tidy your your father is always reminding you to pray; your younger sister is annoying you when all you want is some PEACE AND QUIET ... You are not sure if it's everyone else that is going mad or you. Luckily, Ruqaiyyah Waris Maqsood in on hand. Having a wealth of experience as a teacher and an 'agony aunt', she understands the minefields that are the teenage years. This book is a light-hearted, humorous, but above all, sympathetic pointer to coping with teenage life as a Muslim.
Izhar ul Haq is internationally recognised as one of the most authoritative and objective studies of the Bible. It was originally written in Arabic in 1864 by the distinguished nineteenth century Indian scholar, Maulana Rahmatullah Kairanvi in response to the Christian offensive against Islam in British India, and specifically to counter the subversive attack made by the Reverend Fonder in his Urdu book, Meezan ul Haq.
It was subsequently translated into Urdu and then into English by Muhammad Wali Razi. This is the revised edition of the Wali Razi translation supplemented with editorial footnotes.

Part Two of the Towards Islamic Psychology series, (Part 1: Patience and Gratitude), is a planned series of books which, drawing on the Islamic scholarly heritage, will offer practical advice rooted in the Qur'an and Sunnah, to address many psychological woes of our modern age. Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah defines the concept of worship in Islam and explains that to be a true "slave of Allah" is a status of both virtue and nobility. The title "slave of Allaah" is one of great honor which Allah bestowed upon the best of creation, Muhammad (SAW). Ibn Taymiyyah highlights the prevalent traps which people fall into, when becoming enslaved by, or allowing their hearts to become attached to worldly objects. The emphasis is on servitude to Allah which is adorned with the true love we hold for Him in our hearts -- a matter of central importance for every Muslim. Highly Recommended for the young blooded who Want to Run before they can Walk and even the Old timers 'Who sometimes are so comfortable Walking that they have forgotten that there is sometimes a need to run' in the Path Towards Allah
