Ta-Ha Publishers

Ta-Ha Publishers was founded in March 1980 by husband and wife team, Afsar Siddiqui and Dr Jamal-un-Nisa Rafai. Despite being successful in their own respective fields, they felt they could do more by working together and for the sake of Allah to further the understanding and love of Islam among English speaking Muslims. So the idea was born in the late 70s to found an independent publishing house. The name that they settled upon was Ta-Ha, because of the story that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab turned to Islam after hearing verses from Surah Ta-Ha.

The first small booklets were printed in 1980, illustrated by Afsar and typeset by hand, retailing for 40p. Dr Jamal-un-Nisa compiled a series of quiz books for children and later wrote the first word-by word English translation of six parts of the Qur’an. Since then, Ta-Ha has published over 400 titles on a range of subjects that are distributed all over the world.

The Complete Forty Hadith
Hadith
Imam an-Nawawi assembled his collection of forty-two ahadith together with the absolute minimum of fiqh and commentary necessary for people not to misunderstand their import. Ibn Uyaynah said, Ahadith are misleading except to those who have fiqh. Ibn Wahb said, Every man of hadith who has no Imam in fiqh is astray. Of the huge number of collections of forty hadith, the one by Imam an-Nawawi is undoubtedly the most famous and most enduring. This is, to our Knowledge, that work s first full translation into English and so we have called it The complete Forty Hadith of Imam an-Nawawi.

A Gift for the Bereaved Parent: A Remedy for Grief...
Hadith
A remedy for grief from the Islamic perspective using quotes from the Qur'an and Hadith. The loss of a child is probably the most painful experience a parent can go through. It is at such times of deep sorrow and grief that people often turn to their faith. In addition, the author has drawn from her experience as a Muslim Chaplain at a children’s hospital to clarify some of the questions and confusion that a bereaved Muslim parent may ask or feel. A Gift for the Bereaved Parent gives permission to be human whilst offering comfort, healing and gentle encouragement through the grief. It is a guide and companion to be turned to again and again. This booklet is a part of “Red Balloon Resources”: Support in Multi-faith and Cultural Paediatric Health, Palliative and Bereavement Care.

Secrets to Successful Marriage
Family

Marriage, at its best, is a source of peace, strength and security to the couple. It is from this foundation of love and mercy that children are brought into this world. The family unit provides a cushion to each other from the harshness of the outside world. It covers each other’s faults, it protects, it cherishes and loves, gives confidence and self-esteem. Unfortunately, this ideal doesn’t come ready-made. It has to be achieved through hard work by both partners in a marriage, starting from before the couple even get married.

    Muslim Personal Law - Hardback
    Educational
MUSLIM PERSONAL LAW deals with some aspects of Muslim civil law which historically have been implemented both under Muslim and non-Muslim colonial rule. This book is for anyone who wishes to acquire more than a superficial knowledge of the subject. It summarizes comprehensively those aspects of the Shari'ah that govern the most fundamental personal relationships in a straightforward way. It represents one of the mainstream Sunni attempts to codify these aspects of Islamic law, based on centuries of practical application and experience, relying mainly on the Hanafi madhhab. As such, although it is as impossible to codify Islam as it is to codify life itself, it nevertheless provides the reader with a reliable checklist of the identifiable features of the Shari'ah which govern the fundamental milestones in life which most people experience during their life's journey: birth, childhood, marriage, divorce, death and inheritance.

    Human Nature: The Only Solution
    Educational
This book's deceptively simple message can easily be missed. Allah created nature and within it man, woman, and human nature. If man and woman are in tune with their own natures, they are in tune with Allah their Creator, and that is Islam. Not only are they then Muslims, but they are in fact only then truly human beings. If man and woman are not in tune with their own natures, they are out of tune with all nature and are disobedient and rebellious towards Allah, and are, properly speaking, not yet human beings. If man and woman are not in obedience to Allah, they will not fulfill their highest destinies. Being Muslim is simply to be a human being, and there is no other way to be a human being. However, being technically a Muslim 'in name' without being genuinely in submission to Allah or in harmony with one's own nature is the worst of all possible permutations of the themes of this book. Being in harmony with one's own nature is to be in harmony with all of nature and is necessarily to be in obedient submission to Allah, and thus at ease and at home in reality, a friend of Allah in this life and in the next.
