Explanation of A Hadith Inclusive of Aqidah
Hadith

It is affirmed in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim from the Ḥadīth of Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) whenever he stood at night to pray Tahajjud (i.e., night prayer) he would say,
“O Allāh! All the praises are for you, You are the Sustainer of the Heavens and the Earth, and whatever is in them. All the praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens, and the Earth, whatever is in them; All the praises are for You; You are the Sovereign of the Heavens and the Earth and whatever is in them; And all the praises are for You; You are al-Haqq (the Truth), and Your Promise is the truth, Your Word is the truth And to meet You is true, Paradise is true, And Hell is true, And all the Prophets are true, And Muḥammad (sallahu alayhi wa sallam) is true, And the Last Hour is true. O Allāh! I surrender (my will) to You; I believe in You and depend on You. And repent to You, And with Your help, I argue (with my opponents, the non-believers) And I take You as a judge (to judge between us). Please forgive me my previous and future sins; And whatever I concealed or revealed And You are the One who make (some people) forward and (some) backward. There is none to be worshiped but you.”

Majority of the creation do not understand these principles [of shirk]; because of that these principles obscure are for them. Consequently they end up worshipping graves, those whom inhabit those graves, the 'Awliyaah of Allah, worshipping trees and stones beside Allah, while they think that they are upon something due on their level of ignorance of the true meaning of Tawheed and the reality of Shirk (Polytheism). The author of these principles is Shaykh- ul-Imam Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhab, may Allah have mercy upon him; He was the reviver of what was obliterated and wiped out from the Muslim world in this Arabian Peninsula in the second half of the twelve century. He passed away in the year 1206 after hijrah.

The poet began his poem regarding the creed with these two magnificent stanzas. And these lines of poetry contain the call to cling to the Book and the Sunnah; and to beware of innovations. He has begun with them before clarifying the creed and its affairs in accordance with the path of Ahlus-Sunnah within the books of creed since their way, in most instances, was to begin with this affair; and this was an example from them of denoting the source of derivation for the Usool of the religion and its subsidiary branches in order that the structure of the creed and its basis be upon a sound foundation and strong correct principles. When the servant makes the source from which he derives his creed and the source upon which the principles are predicated to be the Book and the Sunnah, then he will see that which is besides it from sources to be rubbish and he will not take anything from them nor will he make them to be a source for him in his religion and his creed. He will only take from the pure source and the pure spring which is neither soiled nor defiled; and thus by way of this his creed will be safe and his Eemaan will be sound. The source of Ahlus-Sunnah in derivation is the Book and the Sunnah. They take from them, derive their evidences from them, and rely upon them. They do not deviate from them in the least. Rather, they are as Al-Awzaa’ee said: “We go with the Book and the Sunnah wherever they go.”They do not invent anything from themselves. Shaykh Al-Islaam, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated: “The creed does not belong to me nor to anyone greater than myself. The creed belongs to Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).”So from Allah is the Message and upon the Messenger is the conveyance of the Message and upon us is belief and submission. Due to this, we find the books of Ahlus-Sunnah beginning with mention of the source before explaining the creed. This is that which we derive from that which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would constantly do within the Friday sermon. He would always say in the beginning of it: “As to proceed; indeed the truest speech is the Book of Allah the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the worst of all matters and the newly invented matters.”

Declaring A Muslim To be an Apostate & Its Guidelines

So that whoever is not proficient in it should not speak about it; nor should anyone who is not certain about its general rules as well as its principles enter upon it (i.e. this subject); nor should anyone, who is neglectful in this matter who does not have Ghaira (i.e sense of honor) about the religion of Allah; then as a result the corrupt ideologies and misguided sects will slip into the religion of Allah; then the truth will be mistaken for falsehood; and is charged to the Ummah, which is not from it and that which is not from it will enter into the religion.

And this subject, whoever does not have religious knowledge, Ma'rifa (i.e. learning something by one of his five senses), and Baseerah (i.e. strong understanding and intelligence) it is not permissible for him to speak concerning this matter; no one should be declared an apostate except the one, whom Allah and/or His Messenger (Sallahu Alayhi Wassalam) has declared him to be an apostate due to him committing one of the nullifiers of islam, which has been agreed upon among the people of knowledge.

For that reason it is obligatory upon the Muslims to learn before he speaks, that he does not speak unless it is upon religious knowledge. Otherwise, he will be declaring a Muslim to be an apostate and he will have certainly committed two tremendous crimes; one of the two is more severe than the other. The greater crime is that he spoke about Allah without knowledge.

This is the first principle; doing actions sincerely for Allah the Blessed and Exalted, and warning and distancing oneself from Shirk. This is the principle which the Shaykh of Islam began with, may Allah have mercy upon him. This is the core of the foundation, the greatest of them, and the most beneficial of them without exception; making the actions sincerely for Allah, and warning against Shirk. Making all actions sincere for Allah means: the worship of the person, and their obedience, to include prayer, Zakat, sacrificing, hope, fear, vowing, reliance, seeking help and other than that, must be sincerely for Allah the Blessed and Exalted. The (action which is) sincere (ِِAl-Khaalis) is that which is pure and untainted; not containing impurity. It does not contain the impurity of Shirk, or the impurity of showing off or trying to be heard of, rather the person only seeks by his actions the Face of Allah the Blessed and Exalted. When he supplicates, he makes his Dua’a sincerely for Allah. When he relies, purifies his reliance only relying upon Allah, when he fears he purifies his fear, only fearing Allah. He performs all of his worship for Allah the Blessed and Exalted. He does not ask from other than Allah, he only seeks aid from Allah, he only puts his trust in Allah, and he entrust all of his affairs to Allah the Blessed and Exalted. The (action which is) sincere is that which is pure and untainted. And Allah the Blessed and Exalted only accepts actions if they are done sincerely for His Face, in accordance with the Sunnah of His prophet, peace be upon him. The Exalted said:And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion. (Soorah Al-Bayyinah 98 :5)Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. (Soorah Az-Zumar 39:3)And He said:Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases (Soorah An Nisa 4:48)And the prophet peace be upon him said:Allah the Blessed and Exalted said: I am so self-sufficient that I am in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else’s sake as well as Mine, I will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me. Here is an issue which needs attention and it is: Regardless of our level of knowledge and regardless of our level of obedience and worship it is upon us—O slaves of Allah—to enjoin one other with the Tawheed of Allah the Blessed and Exalted often; and to always warn ourselves from falling into Shirk, its major forms and its minor forms. From the proofs of that is the statement of Allah the Blessed and Exalted about the Imam of the monotheist, Ibrahim Al Khaleel, peace be upon him. He said in his Dua’a:And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. (Soorah Ibrahim 14:35)And he is a prophet, and his sons Ismael and Ishaq are prophets, and yet he makes this great Dua’a.

From the greatest of crimes of the tongue and the most despicable, severe, and the most heinous of them is mocking Allāh or any of His Names and Attributes; or any of His Ayāt, Glorified and Exalted be He; or mocking the Messenger (may Allāh elevate his rank and grant him peace) or anything which has come from him; or mocking the reward which Allāh has prepared for the obedient or the punishment that He has prepared for the disobedient. Mocking these matters is a nullifier of Al- Islām and disbelief in Allāh, the Most High, the Magnificent.

The Victorious Group believe that Allāh will be seen in the Hereafter. The Believers will see Him in the vast place of the Standing, and they will see Him in the Jannah, when He will remove the screen from His Face. He will make it possible for them to look at Him, as an increase in their blessings, as Allāh (The Glorified & Exalted) says:“For those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Jannah) and an increase.” [Sūrah Yunus 10:26] Imām Ibn Katheer (May Allāh have mercy upon him) said in his book of Tafsīr: “The increase includes the multiplication of rewards for actions; for a good deed is ten to seven-hundred of its like multiplied, and an increase above that. It also includes what Allāh will give them in the Jannah, from palaces, purified wives, Him being pleased with them, and what He has hidden for them of a coolness to the eyes.

Indeed, explanation of uniting the word of the Muslims and unifying their rank as well as warning them against splitting and differing has come in detail with the utmost clarity and the clearest elucidation within the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). So there is no resistance for Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah, the people of the truth and uprightness, from that which has come within the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah. They follow it wherever it goes, in negation and affirmation (i.e., negating that which it negates and affirming that which it affirms). As Imaam Al-Awzaa’ee, may Allaah have mercy upon him, stated: “We follow the Sunnah wherever it goes.”These are Ahlus-Sunnah in truth and its true supporters. They follow the Sunnah wherever it goes. So that which has come within the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) they establish it and enact it in the most perfect and complete manner. That which is not within them then they abandon it and warn against it with the utmost caution. This is the affair of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah, the people of the truth for whom the Messenger of Allaah attested to as having victory and salvation. On this basis, it is befitting for us that if we want a solution for this dilemma—which is the separation that has befallen and taken place between the Muslims—that we do not seek for its solution in other than the Book and the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). The occurrence of separation and differing is an affair which Allaah, the Blessed and High, has decreed, universally as well as from the perspective of the preordainment, although He is not pleased with it, Blessed and Exalted be He; legislatively and religiously. The Truthful one who is believed (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has informed regarding that it would occur before it happened. He said, within the authentic Hadeeth: “Indeed my nation will be divided into 73 groups; all of them in the Fire except one.”

He established tremendous meanings, lofty facts, and beneficial details that every Muslim cannot do without. The author did not give this poetry this name himself; instead, this name was taken from his statement in the beginning: “Oh one asking about the Manhaj al-Haqq (the right methodology). He began it by encouraging the one who hopes for happiness and seeks out success in this life and the Hereafter, that one contemplates what this poem contains much good, in the right manner. Allāh had made easy the obtainment of two manuscripts for this poem. The Shaykh’s grandchildren sent them to me.
