In this series, the author mentions commonly made errors that are related to different aspects of a Muslim’s life with the aim of correction these errors. Each mistake mentioned is followed by evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah and a short commentary.

An important point: These issues that al-Hafidh, the Muhaddith, the Imam, Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Muhammad, who is well known as Ibn Abu Hatim, learnt from the two renowned memorizers and scholars of Hadith – his father and Abu Zur’ah, and the fact that both of them conveyed these matters from the Imāms of Ahl al-Sunnah proves that they were united upon these beliefs and that they did not differ regarding any of them. In terms of the Shari’ah the two words, Imaan and Islam, are inextricably interwoven. The Shar’i meaning of the one is incomplete without the meaning of the other. The two terms are complementary. The one is a necessary corollary of the other. The existence of the one is dependent on the existence of the other. Negation of the one implies the automatic negation of the other. A proper understanding of Imaan is, therefore, possible only by a study of the Shar’i definition of both words and their interrelationship to one another.

The 'Aqeedah of Imaam Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhaab, explained by scholars like Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, is a strict adherence to the Salafi methodology, representing the orthodox Sunni belief (Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah). This book by Sheikh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah is a clarification of the Aqida of the people of the Sunna about the verses and hadiths pertaining to the Attributes of Allah azza wa jall, as opposed to the wrong positions of Ash'ari on the issue.
