Jalal ad-Din as-Suyuti
Jalal ad-Din as-Suyuti (1445 – 1505) was an Egyptian polymath.
He was a leading muhaddith, mufassir, jurist, legal theorist, theologian,
grammarian, rhetorician, philologist, lexicographer and historian. He authored some 1000 books in virtually every Islamic science and is recognised
as one of the most prolific authors of all Islamic literature.
Tobias Sahl Andersson
Tobias Sahl Andersson was born
in Växjö, Sweden. He received his PhD in Islamic history at the University of
Edinburgh for research concerning early Islamic historical writing, focusing on
the
Tarikh
(‘Chronicle’) of the Basran historian and hadith
scholar Khalifa b. Khayyat (d. 240/854). Besides that, he works with various
translations of classical Arabic works into English and Swedish.
