Arabic Between Our Children's Hands Textbook: Level 1
The first book consists of 8 units, with each unit containing 5 lessons, plus an activity at the end of each unit. Thus, each book contains 40 main lessons. The distribution of the lessons for each unit is as follows:
It includes two reviews, after Unit 4 and after Unit 8, titled "Do You Remember?" These are self-assessments for most of the content covered in those units. The review typically includes the following:
- Lesson 1: The first dialogue and its vocabulary
- Lesson 2: Vocabulary exercises
- Lesson 3: Sentence structures and related exercises
- Lesson 4: Sounds and listening exercises
- Lesson 5: Reading and writing exercises
- Lesson 6: Activity
The book contains 61 vocabulary words.
Tests, Assessment, and Review:
Training on listening comprehension includes three levels:
- At the sound level and discrimination: The student is presented with two similar sounds, listens to one, and must distinguish it.
- At the word level and discrimination: The student is presented with two words that have slight differences, listens to one, and must distinguish it.
- At the expression/sentence level and discrimination: The student is presented with two sentences that have minor differences, listens to one, and must distinguish it.
Training also includes a review of most of the vocabulary from the four units, recalling their meanings, and sometimes writing them down. Additionally, there is practice on using sentence structures and completing dialogues.
